David is a registered professional engineer with over 20 years of experience in the field of building envelope technology.  He has extensive experience

with building envelope systems and components, and he routinely performs inspections of properties to establish existing conditions, investigate known problems, formulate recommendations, and design repair solutions for building owners, architects, and property managers.

 

David has designed and overseen building envelope repairs for over 100 properties in the greater Boston area.  He has extensive knowledge of building codes, material properties, and best construction practices.  David has particular expertise in roofing systems, flashing details, brick masonry wall systems, and forensic leak investigation and watertesting.

 

David has served as an expert witness in several construction defect litigations cases, and has been a featured speaker at industry seminars focused on construction and building maintenance issues.  He is a member of the BBRS Ch. 34 subcommittee, which is responsible for formulating the Massachusetts State Building Code for existing buildings.

Kehillath Israel Temple, Brookline, MA

Designed and oversaw repairs for the exterior restoration of the 100-year old temple structure, including replacement of the main roofing systems, extensive restoration repairs to the stone and brick masonry facades, and replacement of the front entrance steps.

 

245 Summer Street (Fidelity), Boston, MA

Designed and oversaw the replacement of the main roofing system at Fidelity’s Boston headquarters.  A triple-ply modified bitumen roofing system was utilized, and all work was coordinated with Factory Mutual requirements. The bulk of the work had to be performed during night time hours.

 

2000 Comm. Ave. (Boston College), Boston, MA

Provided design assistance and construction oversight services for the architectural team during the rehab of this 17 story apartment building for BC.  Also performed a high-rise façade ordinance inspection, followed by design and construction oversight for repairing the exterior concrete balconies.

 

Newton Wellesley Hospital, Newton, MA

Designed and oversaw the exterior restoration of the Allen-Riddle building, including replacement of the roofing systems and the restoration of the exterior masonry façades.

 

Seaport World Trade Center, Boston, MA

Performed a detailed condition survey of the existing PVC membrane roof systems at the Seaport WTC, including probing the majority of the seams and flashing details.  Produced a detailed and comprehensive repair schedule to guide the Owner in maximizing the remaining life of the roofs.

 

165 Cambridge Park Drive, Cambridge, MA

Provided design assistance and construction oversight services for the owner and architectural team during the construction of this 5-story wood framed  apartment complex near the Alewife T Station, including punch listing exterior siding installation, window installation, and roofing installation.
